[Update Jan 23]: Despite the owner's response below stating they would "reach out directly," I have not received any communication from management regarding my injury or complaint as of Friday. The only call I received was a routine results notification that ignored my concerns entirely. The silence is disappointing. UNSAFE standards: Negligent supervision & excessive trauma at Boston Dermatology & Laser Center (For privacy reasons, I am posting pseudonymously, but the office will recognize this case based on the specific clinical details below.) I visited Boston Dermatology & Laser Center in January 2026 for a biopsy with Dr. Robert Staszewski. My experience revealed a shocking lack of clinical standards and staff training at this facility. While Dr. Staszewski performed the procedure, the systemic failures of this practice were evident in two critical areas: 1. Excessive Tissue Damage & Poor Technique I went in for a small lesion biopsy. Dr. Staszewski marked the area, but the final wound ended up being roughly 3 times the size of the original lesion and significantly larger than his own surgical markings. I signed a consent form acknowledging potential scarring, but burning a hole 3x the necessary size while ignoring a patient's breakthrough pain is not "scarring"—it is negligence. 2. Incompetent Staff & Negligent Pain Management The Medical Assistant provided by the clinic was unable to effectively administer local anesthesia. During the cauterization phase, I felt sharp, intense pain. Instead of intervening immediately to re-numb the area himself, Dr. Staszewski allowed the struggling assistant to continue poking me with multiple failed injections while I was in visible distress. This prolonged pain and chaos led me to suffer a panic attack and near-syncope on the table. It is alarming that Boston Dermatology & Laser Center employs staff who cannot perform basic anesthesia and allows doctors to operate with such disregard for patient distress. If you value precise cosmetic outcomes and patient safety, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

Update: Suzy called me this morning telling me to “reflect and take accountability” for my review. Denied the whole thing and brought up that she previously did not charge me for services out of the kindness of her heart. I spoke with patty, the office manager, who was really great and listened to my concerns. After speaking with Patty I feel comfortable going back. The office staff really is great but didn’t have the best experience with Suzy. I had an unprofessional experience with Dr Suzy Amor. I went for a red patch that I’ve had for over a month and heard her talking loudly about me outside the door. She could not believe that I came all the way to the office “just” for a red patch. I have never been more uncomfortable. I could not believe she would talk about a patient that way right outside the door before seeing me. It’s so unprofessional and honestly pretty upsetting. She gave me attitude during the appointment and made me feel incredibly stupid for coming in. I’ve never had a doctor talk poorly about me with me less than a foot away. I had eczema and treated like I came in for nothing. I really don’t want to see her again and left feeling very upset about the whole situation.

Very satisfied with the resolve and continued care follow up from this practice and our practitioner. Suzy Amor took the time to listen and answer all of our questions.

Both my daughter and I have seen Dr. Suzy Amor and have had wonderful experiences all around. She provides excellent care, is very knowledgeable, and has a great bedside manner. We've both had very good outcomes under her care. Highly recommend.

⚠️ Warning for Aetna people ⚠️ **CHECK IMAGE ATTACHED** I went in on September 16, 2025 for what was supposed to be a standard office visit. I gave them my Aetna insurance and paid the $40 copay they asked for. A few weeks later, I get a bill saying Aetna “requires a referral” for the visit — fine I guess I will pay. I open up the billing letter and see that I owe $551 ($511 after the copay) total for a “Office Visit” that lasted 15 minutes. When I called to clear it up, they were so rude and just kept trying to haggle with me — saying I could “just pay a discounted $385 instead.” What?? If you’re with Aetna, double-check that your visit is covered before you go, because you might get blindsided with a huge bill later; I am a college student I can not afford this 😭

I see Dr. Suzy Amor yearly for my annual skin check and mild hormonal acne. She’s kind and knowledgeable. The other morning, I called and asked to be squeezed in for a quick appointment to get a steroid injection for an acneic cyst, before I left for vacation. I was given 20 minutes’ notice for a 3pm appt but I took it and made it in to see Dr. Robert Staszewski. He was similarly kind and explained the process. I was in and out, thank you to the whole team (receptionist and medical assistant included) at the Boston branch :)
