I visited Boston Dermatology & Laser Center in January 2026 for a biopsy with Dr. Robert Staszewski. My experience revealed a shocking lack of clinical standards and staff training at this facility. While Dr. Staszewski performed the procedure, the systemic failures of this practice were evident in two critical areas: 1. Excessive Tissue Damage & Poor Technique I went in for a small lesion biopsy. Dr. Staszewski marked the area, but the final wound ended up being roughly 3 times the size of the original lesion and significantly larger than his own surgical markings. I signed a consent form acknowledging potential scarring, but burning a hole 3x the necessary size while ignoring a patient's breakthrough pain is not "scarring"—it is negligence. 2. Incompetent Staff & Negligent Pain Management The Medical Assistant provided by the clinic was unable to effectively administer local anesthesia. During the cauterization phase, I felt sharp, intense pain. Instead of intervening immediately to re-numb the area himself, Dr. Staszewski allowed the struggling assistant to continue poking me with multiple failed injections while I was in visible distress. This prolonged pain and chaos led me to suffer a panic attack and near-syncope on the table. It is alarming that Boston Dermatology & Laser Center employs staff who cannot perform basic anesthesia and allows doctors to operate with such disregard for patient distress. If you value precise cosmetic outcomes and patient safety, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere.
