This place is amazing. The entire student staff may not have the years of experience of a professional salon but the students, especially THAIS, work tirelessly to achieve what the client asks for and dont quit until they get it just right. I've paid top dollar for years with prof. Salons but would choose Thais and Ave 5 for the very reasonable discounts and friendly and hard working students any day over other places. Love this place for my blonde highlights!

Ashley T did so good on my nails! Not only was the manicure itself amazing the design she do on my nails came out SO GOOD!! We did brown and tortoise and I’m obsessed!!

My review is regarding one student, I do not know if other students are in the same level. Cynthia Lopez was absolutely fantastic. She took the time to make sure that the cut was to my liking, and even if it was a simple haircut, it was the best I have had in a long while. If Cynthia is this good while still a student I can only imagine that she will be a rockstar with more experience. Cynthia was very professional and relatable at the same time, a winning combination. I am now scheduling a hair color session with her.

Today, I had Sunni! ☀️ She was absolutely perfect! I really appreciated her knowledge and attention to detail. We did a money piece and brightened up my blonde a bit! I’m terrible at upkeep, so I will definitely be coming back! The prices are RIDICULOUS! You literally can’t beat it! And I love how they check in with a teacher through the steps. It’s like you’re getting two sets of eyes on your head for reassurance and collaboration 💗🌸🎉✨ They were all so professional and warm! I definitely recommend!!!

This is my first time back in a while, and while my previous experiences were all fine or pleasant Riley was not as up to standard as previous students. My main issue is the cut of my bangs. I did not notice at the time as they were still wet, but upon getting home and showering/drying my hair I realized they were Incredibly uneven and at a literal slant. Part of the issue I think is that after my requested extra cutting as I wanted a shorter length, the professor was never called to check her work. She also referred to the entire session as a trim several times despite me booking a haircut and paying for one. It's important to note she was resistant to using clipers despite my initial scheduling having a note requesting that my stylist have them prepared, and then again during the cut I approved and suggested use of clippers again. She said she was uncomfortable with using clippers. While I can sympathize, it caused more strain for both her and me. She had to cut down the back of my hair by hand which she struggled to properly reach and I had to crane my neck down as far as I could to make it work. Everything got done in the end, but the refusal to take advantage of the learning opportunity and make both our experiences smoother really soured the experience.

Had a perfect perm done for just $44 dollars with Ashlynn, she was real attentive, precise, and had the instructor check in on us to make sure everything was going smoothly. Overall awesome service at a wonderful price ❤️

Just got my first mani pedi here by Victoria and Randa and it was AMAZING! They were both so nice and gave me great recommendations for nail care. I got gel polish, solid colors and it came out amazing. I've been coming to avenue Five for years for various services and always have a great experience.

This evening I had Marina for a Hylunia facial and she was absolutely amazing. I have been to many high end facial spots in Austin and she blew them out of the water with her technique and relaxation she brought throughout the whole service. I felt swollen and puffy from pregnancy and she made me feel so refreshed and glowy. I will 100% be back! You will not be disappointed if you book with her!

Martha Lugo is a top notch hair stylist! Today was my first time getting my hair done here, so I kept it simple with a 1 inch trim and deep condition. She went above and beyond by giving me a red carpet ready blow-out and a head massage that was better than my professional stylist's. 10/10 recommend Martha (and the studio in general, the facials are also quite nice!). I will be coming back!

First of all, the esty who worked on my face did a great job aside from the fact that: I said multiple times in my intake that I was allergic to wheat. she went to confirm nothing she was going to use had wheat in it, but after the facial low and behold the face lotion she used had wheat germ in it. the guy at the front desk told me that foods you eat don't have the same allergic reaction when used on the skin. completely wrong. my face does and did get irritated with exposure to wheat. Second of all, do NOT ever go here for a lash lift. waste of money and time. Yes $50 is very reasonable, but it doesn't excuse the technician in training to not give a shit and actually not even follow protocols correctly. I was laying down less than 30 minutes before she was handing me a mirror to ask what I thought. Completely underwhelming job and lift/tint. I had to be the one to ask if that was it. She didn't offer a spoolie for me to brush out lashes, didn't give me any 'don't wet for 24 hrs' post procedure instructions. It was like she was offended that she did such a bad job. When I mentioned it to the person ringing me up, I could tell he was trying to be polite and listen to my grievances. But he honestly could care less about my lashes. Getting home a few hours later, I'm beyond infuriated that I paid for the lash lift. There is zero lift and the tint barely covers the front part of the lashes and only the ones in the middle got the bulk of the tint. i've gotten more lift from plain old mascara. The most disappointing part of the experience is that the people working there make you feel like you're nuts for saying anything at all or wanting to provide feedback. "Well this is a school." should not be the response to give to paying customers when the technician/student f's up. I've been to many student salons and had many a facial and lash lift from student salons annnnd this is not it. I hope someone can make this right. As a school sending licensed estheticians out into the world, I sincerely hope you all are taking allergies of all kinds, and misstepping protocols when it comes to chemicals seriously. Below I posted comparison photos. The first one was just a few hrs after lift/perm @avenue five The second one is from a different salon, also a few hours after lift/perm.
